An Old Fashioned Christmas

Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at 2:30 pm
Silva Concert Hall, Hult Center

It’s Tradition! For the first time in our history, we completely sold out Silva Concert Hall with last season’s "An Old Fashioned Christmas" concert. We'll build on that success and present a concert with similar format but fresh and different music. Our audience will see the beautiful pageantry of the holidays and feel the warmth of being surrounded by good friends.

This delightful concert features the 100-voice Eugene Concert Choir, and the Lords and Ladies of the Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble in their gorgeous Renaissance dress, directed by Diane Retallack. Special guests include the Don Latarski Band, the Oregon Young Women's Choir, directed by Paul Westlund, the Oregon Festival Choirs "Lyrica" and "Fiero," directed by Peter Robb, and the Oregon Mozart Players. Ring in the spirit with holiday favorites, Christmas carols, and excerpts of Benjamin Britten's St. Nicolas Cantata.

Pre-concert festivities beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Hult Center lobby set the tone for a magical experience from the moment the audience attendees walk in the door. Wassail and cookies for all, the resounding of an excellent brass quintet, decoration activities and a carol singalong led by the "Lords and Ladies" of the Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble all combine for a festive opening to the concert.
