Diane Retallack, Artistic and Executive Director

Dr. Diane Retallack, Artistic and Executive Director of the Eugene Concert Choir and Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble, was hired in 1985. She was the recipient of the 2005 Bishop Arts and Letters Award for extraordinary contribution to arts and culture in Eugene. Formerly Director of Choral Activities at Seattle University, she has experience in every level of choral direction, including college and high school teaching, church choirs, children's choruses, and community groups.

Retallack earned a Doctor of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University where she studied conducting with Margaret Hillis, the late Founder and Director of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, and score analysis from the late renowned choral scholar Julius Herford. She holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a master's from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Dr. Retallack has also studied conducting with Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival and the Bach Sommerakademie in Stuttgart, Germany. She participated as a singer at Carnegie Hall in several Robert Shaw Choral Workshops. Dr. Retallack is an American Choral Directors Association certified adjudicator for the state of Oregon.

Angela Egremont, General Manager
Angela Egremont, General Manager of the Eugene Concert Choir, has a B.A. in Journalism from California State University, Los Angeles, and has an extensive background in writing, editing, event planning, and office management. She first came to Oregon as partner in a nationally circulated sports publication for masters athletes, where she handled editing, rewriting, layout and design. Following sale of the publication, in July 2007 she undertook her present position with the choir in which she has also sung as a soprano I since 2004. Singing has always been an important component of her life’s activities and, since age 16, she has performed in choirs in Portsmouth and London, England; New York City; Boulder, Colorado; Honolulu, Hawaii; Los Angeles; and now Eugene. She also has served on the board of the Women’s Business Network in Eugene, in which she remains an active member.
Darrel Kau, Development Consultant
Darrel Kau has been a familiar participant in the local arts scene. With a M.S. in Arts and Administration and B.M. in Music Education from the University of Oregon, Darrel is currently the Director of the EMU Cultural Forum at the University of Oregon where he is actively involved in developing diverse programming, providing expertise and direction with program planning, fundraising, grant acquisition, and training students. Darrel is also an Adjunct Faculty member of the UO Arts and Administration Program who annually teaches a course on Marketing the Arts, and he serves on the Board of the Eugene Ballet.
